I don't want to get MSUD!

There's not really a choice if you don't want Maple Syrup Urine Disease(MSUD).

Since it's genetic, it's either you have the gene, or you don't. However, this page will talk about prevention as well as who are susceptible individuals of MSUD.

Prevention does not refer to preventing yourself from getting MSUD, but preventing the spread of MSUD. Maple Syrup Urine Disease(MSUD) is hereditary, hence one should go for genetic counseling should they have a family history of MSUD before deciding to have a baby.

In order to double-confirm the fact that your newborn child does not have MSUD(should you have a family history of having MSUD), a screening should be done. That way, appropriate actions can be taken to tackle the problem.

Adults are also susceptible to Maple Syrup Urine Disease.

Those with a family history of Maple Syrup Urine Disease should also be wary as MSUD can be random and may occur in adulthood. It is best to avoid physical stress for the body should one be affected. If in doubt, approach your physician to conduct various tests to verify.
